A rectangular liner pool with a full concrete surround

Not every yard needs a freeform shape. This Delaware project is a straightforward rectangle, and the work that matters is underneath it: the footing, the panel set and the backfill, all detailed for a climate that freezes and thaws repeatedly every year.

Ohio ground moves. A pool that is going to sit still through that has to be engineered for it from the base up, which is why we do not treat the concrete as a separate trade brought in at the end. The surround here was poured by the same crew that set the pool.

Fencing and the deck layout were planned alongside the pool rather than after it, so the safety requirements did not end up bolted onto a finished design.
